Watercolor Journaling in 2020
Using Procreate has been an absolute joy. I have now created 4 digital art courses on Skillshare.com and I’m in the process of creating my next Procreate Illustration tutorial as we speak. It’s just marvelous what can be accomplished using this amazing app.
However, I’ve been aching to get my watercolors out and paint with them again. I have missed the simple and organic feel of running my wet brush on a rough absorbent paper and seeing the colors run together. It’s pure magic and just so simply satisfying. Watercolor has always been my favorite form of painting. Therefore, I’ve decided I need to do both watercolor and digital art. It’s the best of both worlds! Aka have my cake and eat it too. ;-)
I deliberated all December what sort of journal I’d start for 2020. It seems like such a special year being the beginning of a new decade after all. So I decided to create my first ever Watercolor Journal. That way I can do my digital work and enjoy some regular watercolor painting while making an all new habit forming ritual.
I’ve started the year off with the Pantone 2020 Color of the Year, Classic Blue. From there, every month going forward will have a different color palette. I’ll be posting pages from my journal as the year goes by so stay tuned.
Why a journal? Because I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve heard that writing down goals just seems to make them happen. No one knows why, but it does work. I have seen it in action for myself, which is why I will be journaling this year. I plan to record my hopes, dreams and goals, as well as fun illustrations to chronicle my adventures. Because why not? Though my new dreams may sound outlandish to me now, that doesn’t mean that they won’t be a real part of my future. I’ve seen many of my crazy schemes delightfully come to pass numerous times before. I have nothing to lose and everything to gain. I’m going all in and who knows, 2021 might be very different for all I’ve worked on in 2020.
What do you hope for on 2020? I’m sure you have things you would like to see happen for you. I’d love to hear about them in the comments. :-)
