Fall Watercolor Fun: Painting Low-Stress Holiday Gifts and More

Prefer to watch this post on YouTube?

I know how busy fall can be. You might have a little more time on your hands at the beginning, if you have kids or grandkids back in school, but even if you don’t, you may be starting to prepare for the upcoming holidays. If you’re in the US, you’ll know Halloween is coming up really fast. You may already be ready or starting to find costumes, decorations, buying candy, etc. Then there’s Thanksgiving and then Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa. So many different types of celebrations for so many different cultures will be happening really soon, and it’s all so exciting.

No matter what you celebrate, this season can bring an air of magic, mixed with beauty and hope, but it can also be a time of pressure, when you’re feeling the end of the year coming up. Maybe you have goals you haven’t met yet (Me raising my hand!), and then maybe you have holiday visitors coming, or you’re traveling, or you want to decorate your home, or you’re anticipating the kids being home for the holidays, and there could be so many other things that could be swirling through your mind.

Besides home decor, some of those things could be gifting, purchasing greeting cards, choosing wrapping paper, and making sure you have activities for your kids or grandkids to do while they are on a break from school.

Fall can be such a busy time. Why not get a jump on it with some strategic art projects?

The fall/winter holidays can be busy, therefore it can also be a stressful time for many. That’s why I’m hosting a new fall watercolor challenge so that as you’re joining in, it takes stress and work off your plate by giving you painting and relaxation ideas, combined with some productive shortcuts, tips, tricks, even projects for the kids or grandkids. I’m hoping that this challenge saves you money, time, gift brainstorming energy, gas, and gives you more moments with your family. And who wouldn’t want some of that?

I am really new to hosting challenges and I’ve never done one like this before so I want to make this challenge very interactive. Feel free to join in, below in the comments, and in the Facebook community, with your own time saving tips and stress relieving ideas and maybe even special traditions you share with your family. You never know who you might inspire or help by sharing the things that you do to make your holidays special, no matter what they are!

If you celebrate a holiday, that doesn’t involve giftgiving, decorating, costumes, or greeting card sending, I hope you’ll still join us for some fun painting, because at the core of it all is our collective love of watercolors. And there will be plenty of that involved!

In the free lessons I’ll be sharing with you, I’m planning my own holiday gift giving projects, so you can see what I’m doing, how I’m doing it, plus, how I could use this artwork to make easy gifty things. I’ll be making some hand made watercolor crafts, and I’m even going to attempt to start a brand new POD shop, which I’ve been wanting to do for a few years now. If you don’t know what POD is, it means “print on demand.” Those are companies that will take my uploaded art and print it on all types of things for me. For example, phone cases, t-shirts, greeting cards, wrapping paper, apparel, and home decor, just to name a few.

That may not be your dream or something you’re even interested in, but it might be fun to watch, because you’ll get in on how I’m creating art for gifts as I’m doing it, as well as the steps that go into some of the watercolor art shops that you might be already purchasing from online.

Since I’m still finding my way, I may even ask you to vote on different pieces that I should or shouldn’t include in my shop, and what types of art you’re loving the most this year. It will be an authentic behind the scenes as I choose themes, build color palettes, paint motifs, and put it all together to form a little collection of artwork that I can use for all kinds of cool handmade, and digital things. I can’t wait to discover this process along with you, and give you the opportunity to weigh in!

I promise it will be easy, because I’m keeping it very simple, and I might even include prizes for you when you join in on the challenge. I haven’t done a challenge like this before though, so please let me know in the comments below, if this is something you’d like to learn about. And if you have any ideas about what you’d like to see in the upcoming lessons, I would love to hear about that too!
