Painting on the Go Has Never Been Easier

Hi There! To keep this blog going, I do make a small commission from links in this post if you make a purchase.  It’s at no expense to you, and I only share stuff I use, and suggest to friends! :-)

I’ve always loved travel painting and painting on the go, but since I’ve been invited to participate in a special collaboration with Viviva Colors, I am over the moon about it! I could not have found a better suited paint set for my needs.

This super portable line of color sheets in the form of small booklets, is easy to handle and is perfect for quick on the go painting whenever I feel inspired. : )

There is lots to love about these paints, but the most surprising has been how they have inspired my work.

I rarely have done landscapes, but I seem do them frequently with these color sheets. The lightweight aspect of the paint set gives me a freedom that I have never experienced before. The vibrant colors make me more apt to paint nature in general. Florals have never been so much fun!

If you’ve never heard of these before, they are ingenious, little squares of watercolor dye that activate when wet. Each square is equal to a half pan of watercolor paint, so it lasts a long time, making it really convenient for painting anywhere you like.

The water brush they sent me lasts for up to an hour before I have to fill it with water again, which has been great. Their sketchbook features high quality paper that absorbs well, and has an elastic enclosure to keep it secure while in my tote bag. I really couldn’t be happier with these!

Each booklet is hand made by a family owned company from a lovely wine region in India.

The idea for the color sheets was brought to life by the founder’s grandmother speaking to him about the dilemma of using traditional watercolor paints while at medical school. It just wasn’t practical to set up his paints in between classes, and his supplies were just too bulky.

She suggested he dry some liquid paints on cardboard and the idea for Viviva Colors was born. The Viviva name is even a derivative of her name. What a great tribute to Grandma!

But the most convenient thing of all, is how portable they are.

The little tiny book that houses the color sheets can literally fit in my jeans back pocket. I have been carrying them all over the place and don't even know they're there because they're so light-weight.
