Abstract Watercolor Painting- Making Marks

This one’s been a long time coming… But Abstract Watercolor Painting- Making Marks is now live on Skillshare!!! Woohoo!!! It’s my favorite abstract painting class to date, loaded with tips and brand new techniques to share a whole different process. It’s great as a standalone class, but works a bit better if you’ve watched Abstract Watercolor Painting- Backgrounds and Abstract Watercolor Painting- Shapes beforehand. That’s because I have increased the difficulty level with each class while building up the skills taught in each class.

In the new class, I am sharing three completely different ways to add marks to your projects, bringing character and interest to your work. I’ll use brushes as well as other tools, like Micron pen, Brush Pen Markers, and evening a Sharpie. If you have some basic art supplies, you may even have the tools you need for the class already.

It’s so important to keep the eye moving around your artwork. It’s one of the signs of good art!

Since this class is part of the Abstract Watercolor Painting series, it still focuses on relaxing and just enjoying the process. Having fun is key to building a successful art practice! I encourage students not to overthink, but to choose favorite colors, brushes, and strokes to enhance their projects.

These things may seem so ordinary to us, but they are what defines us! They announce our unique art styles, just like our signatures do.

During 2020 and all its challenges, I have developed a deep personal connection with the abstract watercolor painting process. It has saved me during a panic attack, and continues to keep me calm and centered during all the changes that we are living through. I hope you will fall in love with the process too!

There might even be a small surprise project added to the class…

You can check out the new class and all the classes in the series if you haven’t already by clicking the buttons below. Plus, I’d love to know what you think in the comments or by responding to this email. :-)
