Watercolor Fabric Swatches
Watercolor Fabric Swatches
What are Watercolor Fabric Swatches? I’m so glad you asked! I have published an all new art class on Skillshare that focuses on translating fabric swatches on paper with watercolor paints. Oh and a few other art tools like brush pens, gel pens and really whatever you enjoy working with.
I share what tools and paper I use as well as my own tips and tricks I learned along the way to speed up certain processes that would otherwise be time consuming. I also cover how I get inspired and choose my subject matter. Then I paint dozens of examples for you from florals to classic prints, to designer prints you may even recognize.
My plan is to make this the first class in a series of fashion illustration tutorials. Getting the fabric prints just right in a fashion sketch can be tricky, so I thought I would develop an exercise for practice and confidence building. So far the response from illustrators, surface pattern designers, fashion illustrators and artists looking to try something new is awesome!
I’d like to include in the series, sketching the human form, painting entire fashion collections and painting fashion accessories. In addition, I’ll be adding along the way how to create special textile effects like denim, or torn edges as many designers are working these trend into their collections.
Here’s a free link to check it out, so even if you are not a Skillshare member yet, you can still watch it. I’m hoping it will motivate you to get out your art supplies, create swatches of your own, and submit a project. If you do, you’ll be eligible to be entered into a contest I will be hosting very soon. See you there!
