The Healthy Artist Mindset

You can do this!

Many believe that until they have global art world status, they can’t call themselves an artist. The truth is that being an artist doesn’t mean being Picasso, Matisse, or Renoir. It means being yourself!

The way you draw, paint, or whatever creative practice you prefer, it is your expression. It’s like your handwriting (FYI, don’t worry if your handwriting is bad; mine is awful!). It’s unique to you and only you. That’s what makes it special.

Remember that all humans are creative by nature. It may show up in different ways, but it is there. Have faith in yourself and in your creativity. I do! ;-)

The Story Behind the Course

This class was born by accident one day during the pandemic shutdown in March 2020. I was trying to find a way to deal with the new realization that the world would never be the same. We were in the middle of a world crisis, and my workplace was closed until further notice. Questions filled my mind that I couldn’t answer.

In a moment of anxiety and quiet panic, I grabbed my favorite Winsor Newton watercolor paints and a piece of watercolor paper to dip my brush in the first color I found. As I dropped my loaded brush into a small pool of water on the paper, I watched it spread. I chose another color that twisted into the first and created a new color. It was mesmerizing and magical. I did this again and again and felt my heart rate slow down to normal. Happier thoughts replaced the panic, and soon I was myself again.

The thought hit me that if this worked for me, maybe it would help others in coping with our new reality. The Abstract Watercolor Painting-Backgrounds course was born!

My hope is that whatever your situation, you find your inner peace by letting go and letting the paint flow. No pressure to paint a masterpiece. No judgment of your work. While you’re painting you will learn and grow, but that is not the focus. Only pure joy and relaxation. I look forward to see you in the course! :-)

I’m ready to take the course!
